There are various hunts available through our outfitting service. Moose Float Trips, Sheep & Goat, Bear, Sitka Black Tail, Roosevelt Elk and more. These hunts require specific planning and require one-on-one consulting for a custom fit hunt.  

 

Trophies

We are particular about our tracking and guiding that we provide for each hunt. Our average trophies are some of the largest for their area. Hodge's Outfitting has earned its reputation for being above average when it comes to the trophies our clients take. We have provided a gallery and client referrals for you.

The cost of the guided trips is dependent upon each individual adventure. Details and requirements are specific to each hunt, adventure or fishing trip. These costs can fluctuate so it is best to contact us for a detailed and current breakdown of the trip costs. Some of the specifics required to build each custom Hodge's Outfitters trip that help to dictate the prices for our clients are:

 


Intra-state flight rates to the areas are adventures are specific to within Alaska.

 

Hunting trips require special tags/licenses, trophy and processing fees specific to each type of hunt.

Hunts & Gear Lists


  • Kodiak/Afognak Brown Bear Hunts

  • Fall bear season is from October 25th through November 30th, and spring season is from April 1st through May 15th. Brown Bear permits are limited on Afognak Island. You must apply for permits. Deadline for permit applications are May 31st for the fall hunt and December 31st for the spring hunt. 
  • Fall hunts include opportunities for other game as well: Roosevelt Elk, Blacktail Deer and Sea Ducks are abundant on the Island (some require additional fees). Bear Camp Packing List

  • Alaska/Yukon Moose Float Trips

  • Alaska Moose season is from September 5th through September 20th. This is a float trip hunt using a catamaran with an outboard. There is also great fishing, black bear, and wolves.  
  • Caribou and Grizzly Bear are available via a short air charter.   Occasionally Grizzly bear may be taken during the float trip.   Combination hunts can be easily arranged. Additional trophy fees during the float trip are available for Black Bear, Grizzly and Wolf.

  • Talkeetna Sheep/Grizzly Hunts

  • Dall Sheep season parallels Grizzly Bear season from August 10th through September 20th. Permits are available and it is a bear per year unit.  This is an exclusive hunting area with limited entry. Hunters can upgrade and shoot both species during the hunt for an additional fee

     

  • Alaska Mt. Goat seven day hunts are available. This can also be combined w/deer or black bear depending on hunt unit. Please note that this hunt does require a certain level of physical fitness & no fear of heights. Sheep/Goat Camp Packing List
